Your hardware should be sufficient to run ASL v 5. Other than the APIC power control issue, have you checked with your motherboard manufacturer's web site to see if there is a newer Bios for your motherboard?

Most modern motherboards have flashable Bios chips, and it is generally prudent to update the Bios to the current version recommended by the manufacturer.

[/ QUOTE ]It is not a good idea to burn CDs at the maximum speed the CD burner is rated at. This can sometimes cause image corruption. I have a HP 8x CD burner, but I burn my CDs at the 6x speed instead. I always get a good CD that way.

interesting.  I have a 52x burner and a 10x burner..the only time i have to slow either of them down is due to media not wanting to play nice.  the 10x does not like verbatim..the 52x does not care so far.  I burn both of them at max speed otherwsie and never have an issue.  A/V running in the background IME is the biggest issue when burning high-spped discs in terms of corruption.  I have not personally heard of or seen a disc fail simply by burning at max rated speed..[:)]

When burning ASL boot CD I always burn at 8x speed.  I almost always have problems if I burn them at high speed.

[/ QUOTE ]Oh, I had my fair share, untill I got more cautious, and I have friends and aquintances who have wisted many a CD blank, trying to burn it at max speed.

I prefer to make sure that I get a good CD. I'm not so much in a hurry that I absolutely have to complete the CD burn 5 min sooner.

I agree, burning slower works better. Especially on laptops which have slower hard drives to begin with. My laptop has a 24x, and I get better, more reliable burns if I burn at 8x.

New problem
I' ve done a BIOS Update (Asus P3B-F) and now, the ASL CD boot I press enter: 
Loading bzimage.sng
Loading initrd.sng
And then reboot my system! I try to burn the cd whit 8x speed.

what happens if you let the system sit for a bit?  In other words take the cd out and go into the bios screen.  Let it sit for a bit at the bios screen.  If it reboots on its ownt he issue is hardware.  Also try loading windows on it to make sure it is not an ASL thing.
