V5 Postinstall problem

how many nics are installed?  did you select the desired nic during installation?  were the used nics using the same subnet?

There are two nics installed.  I choose the nic connected to the inside during installation and provided the 192.168.7.101 IP and the proper subnet mask (same on both the Astaro machine and the client I'm using to try to connect).

The internal subnets are 255.255.255.0.  The external ip should be getting it from a dhcp server and would be 130.111.95.X with a subnet 255.255.255.128.

strange.  you shoud not be able to piing astaro...
can you log onto the console and post the results of th ifconfig command please

I don't see why I shouldn't be able to ping astaro.  The way its setup now is that the internet comes into astaro with the 130.111.95.x ip.  It then connects to a hub using the other network card and the inside IP.  There is another machine (the one I've been pinging from) that is also connected to the hub using the inside IP.

I logged in and ran ifconfig.  It only listed one network card (the inside one).  Its IP address was 192.168.7.101 / 255.255.255.0.  I tried pinging my other machine and it worked fine.

the reason i said about the ping, is in astaros default form i believe astaro does not acknowledge icmp traffic.  im sure someone will prove me wrong.  :-)

what make of nics are they?  have u tried reinstalling?  also you may like to try installing v4.  i know that defeats the object.  but that would tell us if it is a v5 issue, berring in mind it is still in beta

Well I've tried V4 before and ran into the same problem so I'm trying V5 now .  One of the nics is an Intel Pro 100S and the other is an onboard dell (it detected both).  I'm using the Intel card for the inside network.

Right try this (if u want that is)

Remove the external nic
re install v5 using the one card detected as your webadmin / internal nic

Can you see webadmin?  
I promise there is a purpose to my fuzzy logic.  I am wondering if there is a conflict at present. 

 Another thing to try, only if u can, is disable the onboard nic and add a 2nd pci/isa card.  Again my logic is that the bios will assign different settings to the new card
