Adding a NIC to an existing install...?

Hi everyone,

I've recently desided to add a third NIC to my asl 4.021 box in order to create  a DMZ. I don't really want to re-install and was wondering if I could hear some stories (successfull or not) about adding a 3rd NIC to an existing install.

I haven't added the card yet but here are some details about my setup:

192.168.0.0/28
ADSL as WAN link
all proxies on
----------------------------
PII 350 w/512MB 40gig IDE
2 x Realtek 3189C (the 3rd nic would also be a 3189C)

P.S> the box has been up and running smooth for almost a year. Which is why I'd rather add a card than re-install even though I have full configence the re-install would go off without a hitch.

    I've done it many times the easy way, which is to find the module needed for your card, make sure ASL has one, if not get the source and compile for the ASL kernel, then edit modules.conf to add the proper information and use webmin to configure.  There really isn't a need to reinstall the software, in my opinion that is the hard way to do this.  Remember this is Linux at the core.

    I don't think Astaro likes this approach very much, when I log on the console of my 5.001 as root it says "any changes done by root will void your support"
