can't detect Intel cards

I have two piece of Intel cards in ASL machine, one chip group is 82546GB, another is 82545GM. My ASL version is 4.021. Now my ASL couldn't detect the two cards, pls tell me how I can add the two cards into my ASL. thank you! [:S]

    Are these additional cards you have just installed to an existing ASL setup ?

    Or are you installing ASL from scratch ?

    Yes, I installed them into my existing ASL setup, but at that time, my ASL's version is 4.017, the ASL can't detect them, so I update ASL to 4.021 online. But I found ASL still can't detect them.  I had go to the end, no way. so pls you help me.thanks.

    The only way to add new cards to an existing install is to manually edit file.

    Edit your /etc/modules.conf using the 'joe' edittor.
    You will need the proper module name and add the correct "eth#" listing.

    Otherwise, backup your install.
    Reinstall with the new card/s in.
    Restore backup

    I ran into the same problem as you.  What I found out is that the "Brand New"  Intel 82546GB chipset is not supported in ASL4 (alothough the 82546EB chipset is).  The included kernel driver e1000.o does not recognize this chipset.  Intel however released an updated version of this driver in february.
    I reported this to the Astaro guys a couple of weeks ago, and the result is that the new ASL version 5 supports the 82546GB.

    Thats fine,

    but did anyone get it up and running with ASL4 ?
    Tried the newly compiled e1000.o module from Oliver (found  here ), but couldn't get it running.
    Using a brand new DELL PowerEdge 750 Server (19" Blade).

    While try a new installation with classic kernel and check again.

    In this regard. I know that I have the options if the appliance is attached to a display, but what if its in a closet somewheres...Is there anyway to force this thru the web interface. Thanks for the patience...since I am a newb
