Multiple static IP's on PPPoE DSL

Could someone 'sanity check' this approach please, I want to make sure that this is the best way to setup a DSL connection on ASL4.

Setup as PPPoE DSL connection
Address auto assigned by remote (static address - 216.x.x.228)
Gateway defined as 216.x.x.1.

1st additional static IP address:
Created as 'standard ethernet interface'
Address defined as 64.x.x.41
Gateway defined as 216.46.70.228

Additional addresses (5 of them):
Created as additional address on ethernet interface
Address defined as 64.x.x.42 etc etc
Gateway defined as 216.46.70.228

I tried just adding additional addresses to the PPPoE connection however ASL wouldn't let me.

Traffic flows back and forth and there doesn't appear to be any connectivity problems, however, I wondered if there was a 'cleaner' way of setting up the addresses.

Many thanks,

Darren

  • What people normally do is use the: "Additional address on ethernet interface" option.

Select New Interface, choose the NIC the DSL is on.
In "Type" select "Additional address on ethernet interface"

    Fill in the remaining details.
