No Valid License

I'm getting hundreds of "no valid license" messages.
It appears that there is a secion on the system configuration screen titled "Pattern Update".  If this is selected to ON, then these messages are created.  What "Pattern" means is virus pattern.  This is not clear and we are suppose to figure this out for ourselves.  The word virus not even used on this page.  Please clarify what this section means.  Please replace "Pattern Up2Date" with "Virus Pattern Up2Date"

This is creating a great deal of confusion on loads of posts on this web site.

    if people would read the manual this wouldnt be so confusing. The pattern up2date includes both ANTI -virus patterns and IPS patterns, so the labelling is accurate. 

    The confusion is because in the past we as users could download pattern up2dates, even though we couldnt enable the features. This is clearly a waste of bandwidth, so the decision to deny the pattern up2date to those w/o a valid license for that is a sound one.

    the thing is venom is that they are turned off(at least in my case) and when you input your license key(in my case home license) the patern up2dates are locked out so if it is on it is locked out and unable to get shut off.  upon first install apparently they are on and unless you go in and shut them off before installing your license it gets left on and locked out so the user cannot shut them down hence hte errors..not a manual thing..a ASL problem.

    ah. if the toggle is stuck to "on" and can't be shut off,that would certainly explain this. there should be a workaround from the command line by changing a "1" to a "0" somewhere.../ewc/up2date maybe? the exact file slips my mind and im not in an area where i could access an asl to find the correct file and line atm.
