I have the range 217.207.43.112 - 217.207.43.127 (16 IPs)
I have the following setup:
Router (217.207.43.113) --- (217.207.43.114) Firewall (217.207.43.121) --- Switch --- (217.207.43.122-126)
Which means that the network between my router and my Astaro FW is using 8 of those IPs.
What I would like to do something like:
Router (192.168.1.1) --- (192.168.1.2) Firewall (217.207.43.113) --- Switch --- (217.207.43.114-126)
Is this possible ?
I used to have an ISP managed router (with the LAN IP set as one of my public range), now I manage my own and I can set up the router as I wish.
FYI, the router is an Efficient Networks 5861 ADSL router with 4 port Ethernet hub.
I don't insist on using Proxy ARP either, I looked into PPTPoE over PPPoA (I am in the UK, we use PPPoA here) but when I read the manuals (http://docs.astaro.org/guidebooks/setup/Guidebook-US-ASL-V4_DSL.pdf) it was talking about adding a PPPoE over PPPoA adapter in the Networks tab, and the option just isn't there for me. I notice that the docs are talking about astaro V4, and I think I have V2, not sure. I do not see where to find out.
When I hit the system up2date in the webadmin, I see the line "Searching for update from 2.035 to 2.036 or higher
" which leads me to believe I have 2.035
If this is the case, how do I update to V4 ? Is it a re-install ?
Whatever, if I use this tunneling method, it says that the IP on the firewall needs to be on the same subnet as the IP on the LAN port of the router. Can this be a private (192.168...) IP or must they be routable ?
It also says that you need to enter your DSL username and password into the ASL webadmin page, so it's ASL that logs in ? Will my router support this ?
