I would like to know how many users can be ran off of a p2 233 with 128 to 256 ram and a 20 to 40 gig hard drive. They will also have 2 web servers in the dmz.
amp10000: We have a P266 256MB 20G 4 nic box setup, supporting 2 dmz servers (1 ftp, 1 web+), and 14 remote (PPTP) users. So far load is ok, but some additional detail about your plans would help the members on this list: - how many concurrent remote users - what is the method of connection for the remote users - what are the dmz devices and their expected traffic load - what additional ASL features are you going to use (http, smtp proxy) - what is the expected load on those features - what is the size of your internet feed(s)
All of these will help determine your minimum machine size. If it is a relatively small installation thou, pretty much any machine over P233 is going to work (load on the fw will be throttled by the bandwidth you have into the site).
