ASL on EPIA M6000

I'm using ASL 4.0 on a AMD Athlon PC and I'm very happy about it. 
Recently I tried to install it also on an VIA EPIA M6000 board but the onboard eth is not recognized.
I saw in this forum that ASL 3.219 works on EPIA so I took a step backward and freshly installed it.
Still no success: everything works fine but the onboard eth is dead.
Does anyone have a good tip, driver, whatever to resolve this issue ?

    have you tried putting windows or another linux on it to make sure the nic is being recognized?  Also did you make sure the nic is turned on in the bios?

    RedHat 9 and Fedora Core 1 works fine on it.
    And, yes, the VIA NIC is turned on in the bios.

    Using ASL 4 I can boot and define another NIC port as admin.
    If I log in via SSH I see the VIA NIC recognized as "via-rhine" (ASL 4.017, kernel 2.4.22-C1_11).
    After a complete update to ASL 4.021 (kernel 2.4.22-C1_13) the module via-rhine.o is no more loaded and reports unresolved symbols:

    insmod mii first, or simply use 'modprobe via-rhine'
