7 minute Filesystemcheck

When booting ASL the console says

VFS:Mounted root (ext2 filesystem)
Filesystemcheck running - please standby

then it takes over 7 minutes for the filesystemcheck to complete

1.  Is this normal?
2.  Is it checking for corrupt files or changed files because of a security breach/virus/trojan?
3.  Is there a way to disable this?

    This is normal behavior if you have large hars disk. in this time it is checked file system for corruption (not for trojans, I think) and this check can't be disabled.

    I am using ASL4 also on 2 different mashines:
    1. P200MMX, 96 MB ram, 2 GB HDD
