Replacement of broken NIC and restore problem

Hi everybody,
on friday we tried to fix a problem with a NIC in our firewall. We saved a config backup, changed the broken NIC and did a reinstall. After that we restored the config. But one Interface, the external one, was not able to come up. So we tried other hardware with the same effect. 
Is there any hardware (vender,...) binding for the interfaces in the config backup. Because the other two NICs came up without problems, only the extern, changed one did not start. We replaced a  Davicom NIC with a Realtek, but encounterd the discribed problems.

Are there any proposals for the problem,

    Have a look into /etc/modules.conf and /etc/wfe/conf/itf.conf and check if these files are ok.
    Did the interface came up befor you imported the backup?

    To find out more information about your "unkown" card issue the command

    cat /proc/interrupts

    Once you have found the pci-id you will be able to determine which module you need to load in your /etc/modules.conf files.

    If you don't have the module, use the pluspak to create from source.

    No I don't think, 
    that is the problem because the NIC was detected right at installation time as an RealTek NIC. But Astaro Webinterface  only found an unknown vendor Interface. And this interface could not been started. 
    After this we changed the NIC again, but the other NICs we tried had the same problem.

    So we really don't know what to do at the moment.

    "Unknown Vendor..." is a known problem. Is is just cosmetical. So normally you can ignore ist. Check if your license is big enough to enable one more interface.

    Try to disable APIC:
     On the LILO boot prompt, type: "default noapic"

    Sounds like Astaro might still think the broken nic is still in the machine (because of the config), and adding the new NIC may have pushed you over your license limit.  Try deleting all the network interfaces under the "Network" tab, reboot, and then add them back in.  Worst case, you restore the backup and your back to original problem.  Good Luck!

    how about removing the nic interface and redoing it.
    or remove the interface backup astaro again.
    reinstall astaro and restore the backup then add back the interface????
