Viruskiller crashed, Up2Date fails...

hey there,

all our customer-firewalls send us mails that the viruskiller-up2date
has failed. after this attachment-mails were temp-rejected!

is there anybody who has the same problems?
typically it is friday night and nobody to ask or to fix..
is there someone who has a solution without disabling
the viruskiller?

in the smtp-log there's: "malware acl condition: unable to read 2 bytes from kavdaemon socket"

    I got exatly same problem: "malware acl condition: unable to read 2 bytes from kavdaemon socket" after a auto UP2DATE [:(]

    This means all the ASL's with Pattern-Auto-Up2date blackhole the Attachment-Mails!!??
    (Here on our several customer-ASL's the Attachment-Mails seemed to be blackholed!?) 

    Is that the reality??
    When this is the truth - what the hell i say to our customers ??
     [:O]

    Have others the confirmation?

    Here is the same...

    after the last up2date for the antivirus... ASL stopped processing emails...

    I had to disable virus protection otherwise ASL would
    answer "temporarily unable to Relay" ...

    the next question is: what is with the pop3 traffic when the virus-checker is activated? i don't really want to know...

    there would be a hard weekend when this isn't fixed soon!

    I was using the AV option with pop3 proxy, but it made false detections on my emails containing clear text syslog messages :-(

    I have posted a feature request in "general discussion" regarding the possibility to roll back virusdefinitions.

    please disable temporary pattern up2date and login as root and exec 'rm /usr/lib/kavdaemon/Bases/avp0310.avc'. Disable and enable POP3/SMTP virus protection to restart the scanner. Now it should work as supposed to again.

    Please leave the pattern up2date disabled until we have solved the problem.

    I've tried the command, but the file doesn't seem to
    exist! I've restarted the Antivirus...but same problem...

    I've checked manually and the following are the latest
    I have:

    avirus:/usr/lib/kavdaemon/Bases # ls avp*.*
    avp.klb      avp.vnd      avp0212.avc  avp0305.avc
    avp.set      avp0210.avc  avp0303.avc  avp0308.avc

    By the way... this morning at 8:44 CET there was a 
    Virus pattern update (i've got the email)... but the 
    list was empty!
