3Com NIC's not recognized

I have two brand new Dell machines with 3Com NIC cards that are not being recognized.  This is not so much the problem as that Eth1 locks up once or twice a week.  Eth1 is the WAN side of the ASL.  Anyone see this before?

    We are using 3COM 3C905CX-TX-M NICs. The Firewall is running fine most of the time.
    Nevertheless ASL did not recognize the NICs immediately, it took the FW at least one day until the NICs showed up with vendor/name in the interface setup dialog?!
