At home I installed ASL 4.016. It works great. I turn on HTTP PROXY and it works great for about 12 hours. Then traffic starts going up and down. Traffic goes down for 30 seconds where I cannot even ping the ASL box. It comes back up and stays up for 5 to 10 minutes, then traffic stops for 20 or 30 seconds again. This keeps happening. I turn off HTTP PROXY and it stays up.
This was happening so I took the following actions:
1) I swapped out the machine I was using for ASL. The new machine has a different motherboard, CPU, Memory, but the same NICs. The CPU is rarely above 4% and the disk usage is something like 2%. It has 512MB RAM.
2) I swapped out the NICs and reinstalled. Again, it worked for a few hours and then started losing the network connection.
So now I have a different box entirely. I have the same ISP, the same CISCO 675, the same HUB, the same wiring. I don't know what it could be, but I have an open mind. BIOS settings? Wiring? HUBS? SWITCHES? CISCO 675? ISP?
I have setup ASL at a friend's house and it works great all the time. Please, any help would be appreciated!!!!!!!
