ASL 4.016 with IBM 300L (P II/400, 256MB, 6.3GB)

Hi everybody !
Just a simple question: “Is there a difference between version 4.008 and 4.016 in the way the HW-detection is done ?”
I’ve installed the ISO of the 4.008 without any troubles, updated to 4.015 – no problems. But as soon as I try to go run the 4.016 ISO the system get stuck. Last message on my screen is: “Freeing unused Kernel-memory …………”. After this – no more reaction – even after 30 minutes – no change at all!
Any ideas ?

Sounds like a problem with your ram, what about trying to check it with memtest ?

I’ve got it !!!
Your BIOS settings didn’t change anything, but after upgrading the BIOS to the latest available version everything started to work immediately !
Thanks a lot for your help and patience – I owe you something. Should you, by any chance, ever get close to Vienna, let me know – we’ll have a beer (or two) together.

Thanks for the link, I’ll keep it in mind if I’ll have to report another “real” problem.
My question was: “ how can I check if ASTARO supports a specific type of Pc or not ?” Checking the HCL didn’t give me any clue about my IBM PC300PL !!!

I'm glad myself, couldn’t believe that I should be to stupid to upgrade from one ASL version to another one –  [;)]

The hint about upgrading the BIOS helped a lot, thanks.
