webmin no longer responds

Hi all.
i was messing around with my home firewall(astaro 4.008, i think), and I ran Up2Date to update patterns, and suddenly my webmin stopped responding.  The firewall is still up, and traffic is getting through.  Is there a quick and easy way to check and/or restart the webmin without rebooting the box?  I tried to ssh into the firewall but it didn't respond.  Does it require console access tof ix?  I don't have a monitor/keyboard hooked up, but can get one if needed.  I thought maybe just restarting the http server might do it, but again, I haven't been able to get into the box yet to check/try anything.  Unfortunately I'm at work now so I won't be able to work with it until I get home.

    I had webmin hang on me like that once..i jsut power cycled the box and it came up fine with the updates loaded..not recommended but it worked..[:)]

    Try to delete /tmp/pdk/*
    Then restart webadmin /sbin/init.d/httpd restart
    Have a look in /etc/wfe/conf/settings if the port is the right one.
    If you can not get in by SSH you maybe have not enabled it. You have to use the Monitor and your keyboard. You can enable SSH in /etc/wfe/conf/settings, too.

    Thanks, but apparently my firewall as more damaged than I thought.  I didn't have any time to look at it last night, but this morning my network didn't have any network connectivity.  I couldn't ping my firewall interfacse.  So I just hard reset the box and it bounced back up and is running fine.  Even webmin works.    but from looking at the up2date page I don't think the updates worked.  gonna rerun it later.

    Recently I came across a very useful piece of code called Powerswitch. It's a small kernel module that intercepts and cancels APM/ACPI suspend signals and then runs 'shutdown -h now'.  This means that if your astaro machine has any halfway recent bios you can trigger a clean shutdown by pressing the power button, which is great for headless boxes.  Here is the link. http://workshy.org/download/powerswitch-1.5.tar.gz

    I'll certainly be adding it to any astaro boxes (after testing) I set up and I think it would be a great thing for the development team to add as an optional component of the core distribution.
