I have successfully compiled the madwifi drivers to work with Astaro 4.016. It supports PCI, Mini PCI and Cardbus cards. It is definately not as mature as HostAP since it is only about six months old. I am currently using a Linksys WMP55 a/b/g PCI card as an accesspoint, have some reassociating issues but beyond that everything works fine and WEP is supported.
I've also compiled the drivers for Astaro versions before 4.016, unfortunately the kernel did not have the wireless radio option included and could not support the wireless tools that are necessary to configure the card.
4.016 has that feature already compiled and also the iwconfig and iwpriv binaries, if you need other wireless tools extract them from the wireless tools tar package and install them.
Hello Tester 100 ! That’s really good news – I was trying to get an AP working with ASL 4.00x for ages myself. I’d like to use a Netgear MA311 PCI card in my configuration – do you think that could work? – and please could you provide me the necessary drivers for that (I’m not experienced enough with Linux to do this job myself and get it “of the ground” in a reasonable timeframe) [:$] I would appreciate your help very much – thanks in advance Best regards, Erich
