Fujitsu-Siemens RX100 HD Problem

I solved it. I  connect the harddisk to the ide controller which is used for the cd-rom. 
Installation of Astaro 4.08 works well, cdrom, hd and all 3 Nics detected but after reboot the system i see only 7's and 0's on the screen.
I've tried to change the HD access mode, to disable alle unnessary things like usb, apc, raidctrl but still the same.

could somebody give me a hint?

Sounds like you're doing everything we would think of: make your BIOS settings conservative, especially hard disk ones; try "Cable Select" and other master/slave settings for your IDE configuration...

i've tried 2 different hd's, a 30G and a 80G, tried both as Master, Slave, Cable Select, with and without lba.

The Installation works fine, in normal mode and classic mode, but when i reboot the system the screen is full with running 00700700700 lines.
Nummlock and Scrolllock Led's lights up on the keyboard when i press the keys, so something is working.

Maybe somebody from Astaro knows what 007007 means? 

I was playing around with the bios setting, but no chance.

Sounds like you need a different controller; i.e., the drivers on the Astaro Linux aren't doing the right thing. The hardware compatibility is the biggest hurtle to clear (think this is bad, imagine how things are for BSD! as good a system as that is). I've seen posts similar to yours, and the only thing that cleared it up was adjusting the hard disk settings in BIOS. The fact that you tried that is making your prospects look grim.

P.S. Saw a company that makes a Linux driver that talks to Windows (NDIS) drivers; that sure would make things a lot easier, wouldn't it!

The RX100 is tested with Suse 7&8  Red Hat 8, SCO unixware 7.13, SCO Open Unix 8.0, Win NT4, 2000 and 2003 so i thought it should also run with astaro linux. Maybe a driver (module) is available from Astaro as Siemens Servers are a nice piece of hardware and widely spread in Europe,
The RX100 is based on the Serverworks GC-SL Chipset, and hast promise 20270 and Intel 82550PM and 82540EM onboard.

Tried the new ISO but still the same problem

007007007007007 on the screen and nothing happens.
What means 007? Diskctrl, Graphiccard, Nic ?????
Astaro pls answer !

Question: is it possible to put the HD as slave in another Linux System to see more details about the error?

it is no problem - Promise controllers are simply not supported or could you find it on the hardware compatibility list @ docs.astaro.org?

does that board use other controllers?  Many boards when a promise raid ide controller is present then there is another ide controller built into the mobo as hte promise is not relaly meant to be bootable(but can be).. 

Sure this board has another IDE Controller. Since my second post in this threat i disabled the promise controller!!! Because with the promise controller it wasn't possible to install ASL.

I have these problems with the other IDE Controller. Installation detects everything perfect, but after the reboot ... 007007007007  

   I have server with Promise FastTrack100 onboard controller and I would like install ASL on it too. 
   I hope that we will not wait for it to long.  [;)]font>

run it as IDE controller (remove the second disk). Isn't there  a jumper to set this option as it is on the board of the Siemens L100?

No, there is no jumper for the diskcontroller on the mainboard. But in BIOS i disabled the promise raid-controller which is not supported by astaro, and connected my harddisk to the normal IDE controller which is used for the cdrom.  Still the same ..... 007007007

If i find the astaro install.log on the harddisk i will post it here. Maybe one of you guys sees a hint in it.

I have Intel S845WD1-E mainboard in my server.
When I change HDD from Promise to standard Intel controller onboard I have installed ASL without problems.
I regret only, that I can not use Promise RAID controller onboard.

Maybe in a future...
