SSH problem with ASL v4

I am using ASLv4 and have the latest patches installed as of 9/26/03.

The firewall is working great, but I have one problem.

I want to be able to login remotely via SSH. I enabled SSH access from any network, and added a user for myself via webadmin. My username can also use webadmin.

Not matter which username I use, my username/password is always denied. I am trying to connect via Putty on Win32.

What is going wrong?

I think I have putty setup correctly. I checked the docs, and there is noting in there that I can find that I haven't already done, aside from setting up an external LDAP or RADIUS authentication source.

    out of the box there are only two system users loginuser, guess what the name will tell you ;-) and root. Astaro doesn't accept root to login initially so you have to take the way arround with the loginuser and once logged in you can mutate to root using the command 'su -'. If you really want to create your own users you'd need to add them to /etc/passwd as well as /etc/shadow.

    Under WebAdmin[:D]efinition/Users you define proxy and PPTP users not system users!
