Suddenly my ASL box that has been stable since v2 has decided to stop working.
Spec is in my sig and avatar picture.
Basically it just locks the keyboard and screen (display not working) and the machine is unresponsive and you cant connect to it.
So I reboot it, and it locks up solid after it starts to check the partitions (about mid way through) [:S]
So, i have a backup of the settings, its not a complex setup, just red and green with no dmz. A dual intel nic and a onboard nic.
Instal 4.08, installs fine, and I restore it (the backup is from after I finished configuring after installing 4.08 originally) then patch it up to the latest using up2date. Everything is fine no problems, so I shoot off to work.
Aparently a few minutes later it crashed again. So I get a new hard drive and go home and reinstall, this time I think maybe its a patch thats causing it, so I install the new drive and reinstall (as it won't boot past the partition checking)
I leave the install at 4.08 and just restore the setup. This time I don't leave. Everything seems fine for a few minutes then *wham* the box is unreachable on my network and I go check it and its locked again.
I'm lost. Tonight I think I will try and install it on a completely different box and see if that works. [:(]
Unless anyone has a different idea. Its difficult to trouble shoot as I can't boot it after it crashes to check the logs.
