Aliasing Multiple IP Addresses to a single interfa

You have probably tried to add a couple of IPs to a ppp interface (DSL maybe?). You cannot do that. If you want more external IPs you should talk to your ISP [:)]
  

Nope. Its on a Standard Ethernet Device.

But for the "drivers" it says unknown vendor / unknown chipset.

I am running astaro on a Dell Poweredge 2650, with the broadcom nics. 

What exacly did you try to do?
Add multiple interfaces on one hw device?
Try VLAN (no it is not wlan with a typo [:)] )  

You have to add them as Additional IPs.  

I tried it too.
I go to one of my interfaces (eth2) then in the pull down I choose Additional IP, then I get the same error shown in the first article.

Are you trying to add IPs to a dynamic interface like PPPoE or DHCP?  I haven't tried that but it makes sense that it wouldn't work.  You need to add IPs to a static IP interface.
  

Nope. It is on a static addressed interface.

Any other ideas?? 

There must be something wrong since adding an IP to a Primary interface is standard practice.  Time to layout your set-up, there must be a simple solution.  Is it really a Standard interface, are the subnets correct for all interfaces and what you are trying to add etc.
Give us more details of the config.

i have read this threat this moment and tried to add an additional IP to the internal (standard) interface of my ASL 4.015 box and it works at the moment i did it without any failures. There must be something else wrong.

Ok I figured out my problem!

I thought that to add an additional IP that you would first select the external interface then select Add Additional Addresses. But no, I learned that I have to Create a entire new interface.  I just didnt understand the GUI.

Actually, thank you!! I thought I was doing something wrong when I ran into that same problem, but you figured it out for us. Obviously, that will need a tweak/explanation on the GUI, if at least two of us made the same presumption...
