Netgear MA311 PCI 802.11b not work though Prism2?

I'm currently evaluating Astaro for use in deployment to small businesses including the ability to use as a WAP for their mobile workers.
I was under the impression that the Netgear MA311 802.11b Wifi NIC would work with Astaro as it would appear to meet all the compatibility criteria as far as i can tell?
Astaro 4.008 AFAICT cannot pick this card up in its hardware scan.
Could this be due to Astaro relying on PCMCIA card services for Wifi NIC's?
Seems strange as I would have thought PCI cards would have been more popular for this kind of use.

If anyone can offer me any advice on how to get the MA311 to work with Astaro be grafeful for the help.

    I got impatient so from console had a looksee in the kernel modules folder and found a "prism2_pci.o" module so tried "modprobe prism2_pci.o".
    I got no errors so continued with "insmod prism2_pci" but got some errors about unresolved symbols??
    Anyway i carried on and popped "alias wlan0 prism2_pci" in "modules.conf".
    Now im currently stuck on how to go about setting up the rc.d scripting to bring this interface up every boot.
    From what i've read on the net the scripting required can be got from the driver package for this module but i cannot find this in Astaro.
    Should be with Wlan-ng stuff i think but cannot find.
    If anyone can offer me any help on where i may be going wrong or where i should be looking next be grateful for the advice.

    Hi !
    Due to my knowledge, ASL is currently not supporting any wireless PCI adapters. You could try it with a PCMCIA-card together with a PCMCIA/PCI adapter. But be careful, only PCMCIA-cards with PRISM2 chipsets and only certain chipsets for the PCI-bridge are supported !!! Please check the "Hardware compatibility List" for more information.
    If you should have any success, please let me know - I'm trying to get a wireless AP inside my firewall up and running myself since version 4 is out.

    Hi Erich,

    I'm surprised that ASL won't detect my card as the drivers I was thinking for both the PCMCIA and PCI Prism2 should be the same?
    Currently im trying to suss out how Astaro handles the detection of Wifi NIC's and dependancy on PCMCIA bridge mullarky reading through the script files but seeing as im not overly Linux literate this may take a while.
    If i suss anything out i'll let you know.

    It’s not even as simple as that. In fact, also PCMCIA cards are not shown after the HW-detection, although they will work fine.
    The reason that a PCI-card won’t work, as far as I understood, is that only the driver for a PCMCIA card is installed not one for a PCI device. 
    I’ve installed a D-Link DWL-500 (PCMCIA / PCI bridge) with a DWL-650 (Prism2 PCMCIA card) – it’s also not displayed after the hardware detection phase of the install, but works fine configured as a WLAN-station. As soon as I try to configure it as an AP it’s not working any longer. And that is my problem #2 – they are currently supporting “Prism2-chipsets” only and there are mainly cards with “Prism2.5-chipsets” even “Prism3” out in the market. Tried already a couple of different cards, but no success – some of them use the 2.5 even when the tech. description say’s Prism2. - I keep on searching, but with a very low profile (lack of time) !
    My solution at the moment: using an external AP – that’s not as convenient, but it does the job. Still, would be great if either the PCI or the Prim2.5 would work in AP mode.
