Abject newbie question

I am still quite new to running a web server behind a firewall, so bear with me.  I have a Win2kSBS/Exchange2K server that I have publishing Outlook Web Access as a secure web page to the outside world.  Its' address (https://mail.xxxx.com) is accessible from the internet as needed; however, that same URL is not accessible from within the LAN.  I can access the OWA page using the IP address of the server.  Boxes within the LAN can access HTTPS URLs on the outside with no problem.  Let me know if more info on my setup is needed - thanks in advance!

    If I understand your post correctly you can access the OWA from the LAN using the IP address but not the name, correct? If that is the case, sounds like it could be a DNS issue.

    That's it.  Wish I posted the question that succinctly!

    If it is a DNS issue, what can be done to resolve it?

    Sounds like your internal DNS servers don't have an entry (or have a wrong entry) for your OWA server. Try an nslookup on the name internally and see if you get the right response. Probably all you need to do is enter or fix the entry on your internal DNS servers.

    NSlookup on that server - the DNS servers at our ISP point back to the Astaro firewall, which is forwarding incoming port 443 requests to that OWA server.  My problem might be that within my LAN, first DNS server to look at is the ISP's.  Internal DNS - handled by the Win2kSBS server (also houses OWA).

    add an entry to your internal DNS server for 'mail.xxx.com' with the internal IP adress of your OWA server.
    In addition go to your Internet Explorer and add this IP/URL to Connection properties 'Don't use proxy for ...'.
    Add a rule like
    your_intranet_network  HTTPS your_owa_server Allow

    That should help.
