there were too many mysterious file problems in version 3 like lost content of files, non accessible files things like that. Version 3 users don't worry, there were only some firewalls affected (compared to thousands running fine) but after analyzing and discussion the decision for ext3 came pretty fast although it has made our upgrade procedure more complex.
