54MBit Wireless with ASL?!

Hello!

Is there a chance (in the future or still now), to run the ASL with any 54MBit-card?

I know the HCL, but there is no 54MBit card listed.

I tryed the PCI-Card NetGear WG311 with 54MBit without any result. Is there a change to run the ASL with the NetGearWG511 (it´s like the NG311, but a PCMCIA-Model)?

Also I read in another threat, that the ASL don´t support any PCI-cards: https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/58/t/53595
Is this realy correct?

Ciao,

Thorsten Schlagwein

  • Yes that's correct. No PCI wireless cards.

You need a PCI card PCMCIA adapter.  Into that you slot your Prism chipset PCMCIA card.

However, you can plug a WAP into a NIC on the Astaro box and set up that way...

  • Hello Simon!

Thanx for your answer. Is there a technical background, why no PCI wireless card will not directly run with the ASL?

But I will go your second suggestion with a WAP into a NIC from my ASL.

    Ciao, Thorsten
