I'd like to design a firewall with as little moving parts as possible, which is why I want to go with static state memory as the storage device. Most firewalls actually ship with some sort of ROM for storing the system operating system.
I've done as much research as I can and it seems like nothing under 2 gigabytes is possible for the hard disk for Astaro. Is this the case? Why is it necessary for Astaro to have such a large install disc?
I would really like to buy a IDE Compact Flash or Compact Flash - to - IDE Bridge and load Astaro on a 1 gigabyte Compact Flash. They have an operating life expectency of 10 years!
Is anyone else doing this or have found another way to use solid-state storage?
