HELP! New Install over the internet- How to do it?

Hi,

I need to install the latest version of ASL over the internet. The box I  am going to use is currently running Windows 2000. According to our sales rep, I should be able to log on to the Astaro site and download the software directly onto the PC. The OS should disappear and ASL will install.

Is this correct? Any assistance would be appreciated, as I am starting from scratch here, and I don't know where or how to start.

    I do not believe this is possible with ASL. I believe you have to download the ISO image, burn it to CD, and boot your system from the CD.

    I could be wrong, and am open to being corrected.

    kd is right, you need to be local for the initial setup, after the software is installed (takes about 10 minutes) you can do everything remote via HTTPS

    Thanks for the input. So how do I go about installing the software locally? I don't have an installation CD, so I downloaded the .gz file and unzipped it, leaving me with a file named "asl-4.008.iso". What do I do next?

    you need to burn a bootable CD from the image, depends on which burning software you use, i.e. RecordNow realizes .iso extension and automatically suggests the right settings.

    OK, I got it now, thanks for everyone's input!

    To Recap:

    I downloaded the .gz file and used Winzip to uncompress it to an .iso file. I then used Adaptec Easy CD Creator to create a CD from an image file. I booted up the PC with the CD, and I am now in the process of installing ASL.
