EPIA C3

Just wondered if anyone was using the Via C3 / EPIA based systems as an ASL box. If so, did the 4.008 install work well? Any problems?

I'm thinking of getting a nice little C3 800Mhz based box to replace my current ASL box (PII-400/128Meg) due to a variety of reasons. It only firewalls 4 or 5 hosts, but does run DNS/SMTP/Squid proxies.

    My own firewall is based on a Via Epia 800 which is clocked down to 400MHz and it runs 4.009 very fine. It runs firewall, proxies, virusscan and so on for a few hosts. It handles mail for five domains.
    It handles this light load very fine with its 256MB RAM and 60GB disk.

    A tip:
    Use the feet supplied with for instance the Cubid 2688 case and place it in vertical position to enhance the cooling dramatically.

    Excellent news. I was thinking of the 800mhz system. There is a nice barebones that just needs memory and a (2.5") hdd at  www.linitx.com that I was thinking of.
