I need to replace the nic with a different one it is my Internal NIC. How should I go about this? I've tried and miserably failed at every attempt so far.
you mean you had a NIC in there, but it's dead, so you need to put a new one in? If so, you shouldn't have any trouble as long as it's the same model and IRQ. Otherwise, the best thing you can do that i can think of is reload you asl box.
Hmm...I've never actually had to restore a backup, but I would think that it would restore everything, and if it restored everything, it would still have a signature assigned to the NIC and would notice that it was a different card. What happens if you just swap it out? Does it piss things off or anything?
It swaps the moves the cards eth0 is the card I am wanting to replace so when I swap them eth1 becomes eth0 and the new card becomes eth1. It also swaps ip's for the internal network and DMZ on the cards. If we figure this out we need to document it so others can do this when needed.
Hmm...So i'm guessing it'd you have a lot of configuring done on the machine and don't want to go through the hassel of redoing all of that. What model is the network card that you're trying to swap?
