How do I change nic driver(s)

I have had serious problem with my realtek 8139 nic´s (simply stops after copying x GB through the ASL), now I saw that there is a new driver version 1.60 on the web dated june 16 2003.

My question is how do I determine running version ?

You could try to manually compile realtek driver with vanilla 2.4.19 linux kerne if you can [;)]on of the kernel source.

sorry to thread crap, but how do you go about changing the IP address configuration if you are moving or rebuilding your network and the config of the box is different ? what file can I edit and where will it be located ? thanx !

I know that, but what if I am no longer on that subnet or cannot get IP access... I do have console access (direct), but what file(s) would I need to edit ??

the file to tweak would be /etc/wfe/conf/itf.conf - Syntax should be quite obvious ...

My problem was solved when I updated to 4.017.
Must have been a nic driver or a kernel issue.

31 days and still ruunning ...
