net interfaces: mtu setting is not saved

i need to specify a non-standard mtu for ethernet interface, so i open
"advanced options" in interface configuration and fill in the mtu field with the value which is ok (and i tested it with ifconfig, it works), then do save, but mtu is not saved - when i reboot, changes are lost. bug in asl?

    Which version are you running? I tested on 4.008 + 9 and cannot reproduce that. Is the value really saved? Take a look into /etc/wfe/conf/itf.conf ...

    the value is saved in itf.conf
    but last time i checked mtu didn't setup right after reboot
    the computer is very remote, so i can't risk again, i added
    rc-script that does "ifconfig eth0 mtu 338" at startup
    don't know how to test previously-described behaviour safely (e.g., without losing the machine again)
