D-Link DFE-580TX again !

Because my D-Link DFE-580TX was very slow and had problem with too big Ethernet Frames I installed the new V4 ISO with the new sundance driver.

But the Problems are still the same!!
(See also Post: D-Link DFE-580TX Bug in module?! )

So I don't now how I can make the D-Link Card to work!   [:S]

Has someone the same Problem?

My Hardware: Dell PC  PIII 450Mhz  512 MB RAM  3c905B (On Board, eth0, Internal Interface) 1* D-Link DFE-580TX 4-Port NIC (eth1-4, External Interfaces)

ASL V 4.008

Hey, @All

I had the same Probelm too.
But the solution is:
Follow the instruction on
http://docs.astaro.org/miscellaneous/drivers/sundance.txt
but you have to : chgown to the driver bevor rebooting the system, because the system wants to start a driver from which he isn't the owner.
Try it and it works fine

Thanks for the replay but it can't be the problem because I installed the newest Image (4.008) where the new driver is included!!

What's about the Astaro Engineers? What do they say?

Hello alltogether,

the latest ISO replaces the old driver, that's correct. But even with this driver packet loss
may happen under heavy traffic. This is why I added 'compatible but not longer recommended'
to the HCL.

Did you try that card under another OS? I guess that there is something wrong with the hardware.

Hello

I had tested the card under a Win 2000 Server and it works fine... So the card is OK.

But actually I have a bigger problem. I must setup Astaro again because on the screen it saws something about "tty" and after a reset it says only "can not execute /bin/sh" !!! [:(]
