Checksums did NOT match

Have the same issue from the same download. Burned several CDs, one at the lowest possible rate and still fails checksum. Trying different download site as well. Let us know how your's goes.  

No good, I tried the Germany site and now I get "Installation Failed" on step 2 after I select the keyboard layout.

I've burned 4 discs now, at 2x, with the same result on two computers.  Something is definitely wrong with these files.   

I posted about a smiliar problem.  oss_inst.dat is coming up as an invalid tar archive despite the fact that it passes md5 check. 

I'm downloading the copy on the Japan server now..will let you know what happens.

Smoothwall while good is MUCH less featured than Astaro.

Did you try a new CDROM drive ?  Check RAM ?
 

It's not hardware.  The same exact results happen on two different machines, both of which have proven extremely stable in the past.

Unless there are known issues with burning the image with Nero, I'm not sure what else it could be except the ISO itself.  

Duron and Athlon should work.  Suggest you email support. 

I have had this exact problem installing v4 myself. I downloaded, verified the MD5 checksum, burned about ten cd's with a multitude of programs and settings, and no matter what the checksum would fail.

I had 4x256MB sticks of RAM and pulled all out but the one located in DIMM1, and reran setup. Voila! Went like a charm. I put the other sticks in one by one and did a restart everytime. On the last two sticks I had lockups after boot when loading astaro. When I checked all the RAM to verify that they were of least the same type, two of them were ye old standard SDRAM, PC100. The other two were ECC/REG CAS2 PC100 SDRAM. No wonder I was having a problem.

This problem also occured in previous installations of 3.2. It always ended up being the RAM.

I replaced memory and replaced my AMD with and Intel Pentium Processor and still got the same results. No joy here.  

try to burn the image with fireburner.

i burned it with nero and fireburner. both iso worked.
mostly the problem is a ram problem.

This is what I changed:
 different IDE cable for the CDROM-(same cdrom)
 different HD - now using a 30 GB ATA66 7200rpm Maxtor
 only one stick of ram - 256M SDRAM pc133 NON ECC
 I burned another disc, this time from the iso that I recieved
 from Darth_Tux. (this cd copy also worked when I tried installing ASL in VMWare 4)
 Somehow all this worked. 

Another question-
 What's the other file that is paired up with the ISO, the "asl-4.000.iso.gz.md5" Do I need this file? if so what is it for?
Did I need to add the "asl-4.000.iso.gz.md5" to the iso in WinISO or WinImage and then burn the image?

I believe that file is the checksum for the CD image so you can tell if it's a corrupted download or not.  (You need extra software to check this.)
