ASL4: manually detected 3C515 not usable in setup

Hi,

as i want to install asl4 on my older PC with ISA 100Mbit NIC 3C515, it doesn't function. Setup says no Network adapters. 
While second try after the info screens before the hardware detection begins, in the Shell Alt-F2 i typed modprobe 3c515 and no error.  ifconfig -a  shows eth0 active. Then back to Console 1 (Alt-f1) and pressing F8 as ok (begin with installation) and after asl recognizes the hardware, the same result: no network. In Console2 retype ifconfig -a the eth0 is removed. Has someone an idea, how it be should made possible, that asl4's hardware recognisation remember the already detected 3c515 and a installation is possible.

    sorry but that is one of the oldest stories that there is no ISA support available.
    (Even the earliest versions didn't work with ISA)

    this may be correct. but the question already is, if it exist any hint (eg. modify the install script?), so the installation can start. I mean if it possible that modprobe 3c515 works and ifconfig -a returns that eth0 exists, why the installation program deletes the already detected nic. is later any function of asl4 (deep hardware based) detects, that there is an ISA card and doensn't functions? 
    So the question may be,  exists any hint or is the only solution, use it with a nic defined in the hcl?
