Uptodate from 3.2xx to 4.0xx ?????

Hi Astaro people,
some times before you have announced an Uptodate from 3.2xx to 4.0xx, will this be avail someday ???
I knew that i could make a backup install ASL 4 and restore the config but i will not lose my history data.

    Hi firebear, 

    we are still working on that package.
    I am sorry to tell, but even with the 3.2 to 4.0 upgrade you will loose your history data.
    For stability and performance reasons we need to change the filesystem during this upgrade and this leads always to formatting the harddrive.
    This package is intended for devices without a cdrom drive or graphic card where a new installation is not possible.

    Hi Gert,

    are there any recommendations for saving history data before upgrading from 3.x and restoring history data to the new 4.x ASL system?
    I would be happy about any suggestions!

    I would be interested in this as well. 

    Which files need to be transferred out of which folders on the ASL, and what's the best way to do this ?

    Hmm, so I was correct when I suspected that the FS was converted from ReiserFS back to ext3. 

    What I did before upgrading one of my firewalls was I tarred up the following log directories:

    /var/log
    /var/chroot-report/sarg
    /var/chroot-report/fwlogwatch
    /var/chroot-snmp.mrtg/var/mrtg  

    These enabled me to retain most of my history. You may want to grab current logs from the squid subdir as well if you don't want to miss *anything*. 

    I then scp'd them to another host, and scp'd them back once I had the new firewall built.

    Note - this isn't an official response, but it's what I did (and it worked) in order to preserve my history. 

    However to build on what the offical response was, I have a remote firewall running 3.2x that I'd like to upgrade to 4.x from here (3000 miles away). In order to avoid a flight out to the remote facility,  I was hoping to wait for the up2date so I wouldn't have to make the flight. What would the difference be between a CD-ROM upgrade and an up2date upgrade in the end? Would I be better off walking someone through it and risking damnage that way or trying for an up2date?
