I'm running ASL 4.002 on a regular PIII 450 box with a 3Com 3c905C-TX Tornado and a Realtek 8029 NIC. Everything works fine, as long as I keep the number of network cards limited to 2.
Trouble starts when I add a 3rd NIC (another 3Com Tornado) for my DMZ and update /etc/modules.conf accordingly and reboot.
Now only one 3Com card is recognized and active. The other two are inactive and listed as unknown in Network-Interfaces menu of Web Admin and they don't show up when queried for with ifconfig. This happens regardless of the PCI slots used, the order of the network cards and various permutations of modules.conf. Each combination of 2 cards works fine, so the cards seem to be okay (and they are on the HCL).
When I ran a full re-install of ASL with the 3 cards in the machine, they are properly recognized by the installer, but at runtime the same problem occurs.
Interesting for sure but not very pratical. Any clues how to fix this or anyone else that has run into the same problem?
Cheers,
Menno
