Firewall inaccessible from internal NIC?

Hi all,

my Astaro Office 4.002 was up and running well for about a week when suddenly this morning I could not access WebAdmin nor any other web page (http proxy activated). POP3 via proxy nor any other sevices didn't work either. A hard reset worked well.

Afterwards I checked these forums to find a post about Hardware trouble with RealTek NICs (which I have).

My kernel log shows this:

What does this mean? What to do about it? How to prevent it from recurring?

any ideas and tips are greatly appreciated!

    Looks like the same problem I was having.  The solution (which seems to be working so far, but its only been a few days) is to log into your firewall either via console or SSH, and modify the file /etc/modules.conf.  

    For your realtek cards you should see "rtl8139".  You need to modify all of your realtek cards to say "8139too".  Save the file and reboot your firewall.

    Hope that helps.

    Okay, Moby - just did that. Rebooted the firewall and now let's see if anything strange happens again.

    Just checked in the Network -> Interfaces configuration. Where it used to say Realtek 8139 it says now unknown vendor/unknown chipset. But I guess that's okay as long as it works, huh?
