P233MMX & astaro v4?

I have a compaq Deskpro 2000 PC with 64MB RAM and a P233MMX as a CPU.
after reading the "new features" it says that astaro v4 won't install on PI CPus, i want to know if it will install on this machine(and if it will simply notify me of the CPU or refuse to install).
this is very urgent, any response is appreciated.

Minimum is an i686 class CPU PPro, P2, P3, P4, Xeon, Athon or better. AMD K6 is also not supported.

From what I have read in other posts, it will install but fail to run.

I would imagine that support is not compiled into the kernel, so *if* it installs, it would not boot.

Hi,

keep in mind, that intel has announced two types of 233MHz MMX CPU:

One was the verry rarely sold Pentium 233 MMX (aka. i586)
and the other was the entry Pentium II 233 MMX (aka. i686)
Astaro can only deal in the moment with i686 CPU's. Intel it
self causes this confusion, because bothe Types of CPU's
were sold in the same timerange.
If you are talking about 233MHz CPU's be mor specific, if it is
an Pentium or Pentium II. Pentium II will work with ASL.

when i said P233(which wasn't "rare" over here, i've seen a lot of these) i meant family 5(i586), otherwise i would've put P2-233.

So, it will install, but refuse to boot?

P233's are pretty rare.

And yeah it won't work, ASL staff are supposed to be working on the issue but I've not seen anything recently. Yes, won't boot.
