Daily log rotate found a 'core'file - noted

I had the same error e-mailed to me this morning.  Any help or ideas about what is happening would be great.

/var/mdw/core

The listed core files will be deleted automatically in 7 days.
Please contact your vendor or support if this message occurs more often.

I to have received this message in the last few days? I would have thought that I as a core dump (ie. Crash) but my box has not rebooted or dropped the connection. Any thoughts

   

I've also receved this message. I'm running 4.009.
What does this message mean?   

This message means that one of the processes on the ASL crashed. A core dump is a dump of the memory at that moment, to help you (i.e. the developers)  to debug it. As you might notice, the size of the core file represents the size of your RAM [:)]
The selfmonitoring of the ASL takes care of every vital process and checks if they are running, so a sporadic core dump is not a big deal. If that happens periodically, it is interesting for us to know which process crashed, therefore you get a mail which informs you of that event.
