I upgraded from ASL 3.whatever to 4. Everything imported hunky dory. . .in fact it was far smoother than I had hoped (well, if you don't count a blown-up hard drive, not ASL's fault!
). All went well until I tried to create a local certificate and import it into my browser. Remember this browser previously had a cert from the 3.x install).Anyway, I created the new cert. and it seemed to work till I clicked the "Import certificate into browser" button. Instead of giving me a file to download (as before), it gave me a DNS error page in MSIE. From that point on I can't even log into ASL from my MSIE.
I have a Linux box on the same network, so I tried to log in from there. Got another strange "Incorrect message" error on Galeon which persisted until I went into my /home//.galeon directory and physically deleted the certificate (couldn't use the menu to delete it), then was able to log in. Also able to log in from Linux Mozilla which I had never imported the previous cert. into.
In other words, it appears that the new cert crashes into old certs. from previous installs. I haven't yet figured out how to fix the problem with MSIE; deleting the cert from the security cert management section did not help.
Before I thought of trying my Linux box, I did try reinstalling ASL 4 from CD and restoring my backup file. This did allow me to log into WebAdmin again from MSIE, but upon regenerating the cert. the same blowup. . .something is wrong here!
