I have a serious problem with restoring my backup files.
I have tried it 6 times and on 2 different machines and all attempts have failed. The server emails me a backup each Friday and I have tried with 2 different backup files.
When I do a restore, it completes fine and doesn't report any errors, but after the middleware restarts I can't access the webfront and the firewalling/dnat/snat stops working.
One problem I have found and solved ( in 3.216 ) is that I run the interface on port 1025 and that isn't restored when the middleware restarts after a restore of the backup. Even if I try to change the interface port to 1025 BEFORE restoring the backup, it still doesn't work after the restore. I know that I have to change port to 1025 after restore completes, but I manually have to change the port in /etc/httpd/httpd.conf to get the webinterface to work again. Only after I change all entries in /etc/httpd/httpd.conf to 1025 and reboot does it work. So there is some kind of conflict with the config files and the middleware therefore doesn’t work at all before I ssh in and change the /etc/httpd/httpd.conf file and reboot. Good thing I had ssh enabled in the backup ( and that this was restored without problems ). But changing the /etc/httpd/httpd.conf file doesnt solve the problem with the nat/dnat/snat etc. doesn’t work.
I have also tried to restore the backup on a version 3.209 which completed fine but had the same problem and described above.
The only "special" about my setup is that I run a prof. version with 50 ip's and that I have enabled the failover option in the key ( but we haven’t enabled HA yet )
I also have 3 nic's in the machine, but I don’t think this is the problem.
I would be happy to send my backup file to any of you guys at astaro so that you can replicate this problem. I’m pretty sure you will be able to do this as I have tried it on 2 different machines with the same result and with both 3.216 and 4.001.
And on a side note, could you please reply on my feature request here : Previous post
And I have another one : Could you please add a indication on the HA menu so the user can see if the serial interface heartbeat is working. Currently it just shows if it’s enabled or not, but it doesn’t indicate if it’s working.
