Continual Ping required so Wks can acess Internet

I'm currently Running V 4.0, and it appeares that the Nic drop the seesions, and that I have to get the firewall to initiate a continual ping so that the workstation can access a session with the firewall.  I've tried a few diffirent cards and the same thing. So long as I keep a continuious ping happening to each workstation, the workstations can then get access to the internet.  I reinstalled 3.216 and the firewall works fine, no probalems at all. This only appears on 4.0. Has any one come across this ?

    What NIC's are you using ? Are they 3Com's ?

    I've used 3c905B 100BaseTX Cyclone and a Realtek RTL-8139, and in both cases, the internet service did not disconnect. The link drop is between the wks and the fw, in that the pc's can not ping the firewall. When I attempt to ping it from the wks, nothing, time out, but when I initate a ping from the f/w, the first few fail then reply comes back >10ms (as you would expect). At that point, the wks can then ping the firewall, and all is ok. So long as the wks keep a continual ping happening, the session to the firewall stays open. This has me confused. Initially I thought it might have been the network switch.  Have you come across issues with 3 Coms ?

    I'd avoid using 3Com with Astaro, seems like a lot of issues.

    Try Realtek cards. Seem to work fine for me.

    are there any Problems with 3Com-Nics ?
    Here i have the same Problem.
    Any Traffic stops. 3Com 3c905 Tornado Cards.

    I have never seen these Problems with Version 3.X.
    Since i inistalled V4.000, 4.001 after a few days i all Traffic stops. Only a reboot fixes this.
    Is this a know issue ?
    I read a lot of threads about this. But no concrete answer.

    Same issue.
    I coud not find if it was on 4.o or after I apply 4.01
    I also find that after a long ping time from f/w to internal wkstation, the ASL hangs completely.
