ASL4.0 boot issues - 0x0A error

I am trying to install ASL4.0 on a machine and I am having issues. It actually installs fine,  When i boot up the machine, LILO comes up with "boot" at the CLI. when it tries to boot "default" i get an error of 0x0A. Ive tried changing the HD settings from AUTO to, LBA, LARGE and CMS with no luck. 
Anyone have any ideas ?
