Can anyone tell if the Adaptec 2100s raid adpater work with asl 4.0 ??

Probably, linux drivers are available for it. Have you checked the HCL ?

Why would you want to use this anyway ?

I checked the HCL, and is not on it. I have a server to install asl 4.0 with the adaptec 2100s on it. Can you advise on other raid adapter ???

Negative, no experience running ASL on a RAID'd box.

RAID 5 would probably be overkill for Astaro anyway.
What would be useful would be to mirror one drive to another in case of drive failure.

Simon, thanks for the replay.

What i intent to do is a RAID1, to mirror the drive like you said.
Can i do it whitout a RAID controler???

Not as far as I know. In the old days you could do this, (I'm talking 80's hardware) but not anymore. You would need a RAID controller on the HCL list. Have you tried the 2100S yet ?

2100s = AIC-7892B

This is the chip on the controller. It's supposed to be working (HCL), but I'm on it at the moment. Setup doesn't seem to recognize the HDDs...

Hi,

is the config of your Controller the Factory Deault?

If yes, the adaptec should show you all disks, because the default is JBOD.

If no, did you have an Raid-Set configured ?

If you have an Raid-Set configured, it the controller shoud show you at minimum one LUN as a usable drive for the OS.
So the Installation should work, maybe I can test it on one of our test mashines which has an Adaptec 2100s as an Raid controller build in.

Hi all,

I tried to install ASL 4.0 on a Server with Adaptec 2100s RAID-Controller (4 Disks 9GB / RAID5):

Doesn´t work, setup sais "No Disk found"

Hi,

so far as I've seen is the Adaptec linux Driver only available in Binary-Format...

I Think this is not so good for building a Firewall -Kernel :-(

There are a lot of platforms supported by the controller: 2100s Drivers
None of them usable for Astaro!?  [:S]

In reference to your former posting: I tried all configs, from normal to RAID to single drive. Setup says, I have "none" Drives!  [:(]

The controller always shows the correct drives...
