Multiport NICs?

Does ASL support any kind of multiport nics? We need 5 nic interfaces and it would be much easier to use something like Intel Pro10/100D-cards which have 2 network ports. With this kind of setup, it takes only 3 PCI-slots instead of 5 different nics.

have a look at the HardwareCompatibilityList (HCL) at http://docs.astaro.org ...

(anyway ... the D-Link 580TX 4port NICs are known to work with ASL [:)] )

we are using 2 adaptec quartet64 fast ethernet adapters (4 port nic) on a dell poweredge plattform. it's working fine [:)]

Hi Ilary,

we use 4-port-cards with intel chip, it works fine,
manufactor is Compu-shack, Model is FASTline-PCI-Quattro PCI 10/100-4UTP
(No.: CS-23-550-03). nice if you want to save slots.

I was also looking aroud for high quality Dual-NIC-Cards and recognized, that the 3c982-TXM Dual Port was dropped from the HCL for ASL4.
Did anyone check this adapter with the beta?

Suppentrulli, did you already checked the Compaq NC3134 Netelligent 10/100 Dual with ASL4 ?

Suppentrulli,

NC3134 is an INTEL OEM, isn't it?
Could you please check /etc/modules.conf
and post it here to verify - I would like to
enhance the HCL.

We bought an 580TX (found on local dealers store), but ASL sees only one interface for that card! Do I have to set up the card before use with it's own soft? Do I have to configure ASL somehow?
