Allright here goes....
lets start at the begining...I am a happy astaro user....was a happy astaro user until a few weeks ago when my dsl company (direct tv dsl) decided to close up shop. Okay no problem...so i switch dsl providers. Got a new router (efficient 5861) from my new isp on friday, and synced it up. So far so good. Then I called the isp and asked them to put the router into bridged mode since I would be using astaro as my firewall/router.
Fine.
Then i went into the astaro and changed the ip configuration settings for the extrenal card. I put in the new static ip, gateway etc...
Then i went into the DNS proxy and put in my new DNS servers.
Finally i went into the DHCP server and again changed the dns servers.
I then plugged my laptop into the internal nic using a cross over cable and turned on a test packet filter rule of eth0 any any allow....
the result NADA
now here is the weird part...the firewall has full access...ie i went under the tools section and used the ping and tracert root tests and they pass fine. I even was able to download an up2date.
So now i am thinking this is a masq issue..right? (nevermind the masq was working fine before the switch)
so i checked it and the rule is set okay masq internal to external etc...
I am a total loss...i have been fooling around with this for 2 days now and cannot get web access on my internal lan...only the firewall has access...what am i over looking?
i do not consider myself a novice and have been working with the firewall software for a while..
I just hope someone can point out what i am overlooking here cause i am going nutso
thanks
