MBR on ASL 3.2

Hello,
I have cloned for backup the full ASTARO HDD with "ghost". All data are on the backup HDD but I can boot from this HDD. How can I make this emergency backup HDD bootable? ( The frist partition is set to "active", it only appears "LI" when booting instead of "LILO".)

    Hi Oliver,

    i know this problem since i already tried to clone ASL.

    First: Because ASL only needs about 20-30 minutes to reinstall and restore the backup file, there is no need for me to clone the HD (only thing you loose are some log files).

    But if you still want to clone your HD, try to use "ghost -ial -ib" for Linux systems.

    Also, are you trying to boot off of it with the original drive still connected? That would make it /dev/hdb still and your lilo.conf probably points to /dev/hda. You'd need to install a separate LILO MBR on it, or disable/disconnect the master drive on that IDE channel.
