@home account dhcp problems!

Well, that is something I could figure out myself. But unfortunally my lease time is one month. To manually edit my ip number once a month is not an option.
I also know that the lease only expires with a reboot, but I want a sollution, not a work around.
For example, how to install another dhcp client on the astaro?

Most DHCP servers will just renew the existing lease with the same IP address (which is the smart thing to do). You'll only lose the address if you're not online for a longer period when the lease expires.

You are right, i kept the same network card originally registered. Also running on astaro 2.xx.

Does that mean you've got it working now, or do you still have problems ?

Just a note on MAC and DHCP.  If you ever change your NIC (can happen...) you can call the cable company and tell them to release the DHCP lease.  They might go through their silly scripts and not have a clue.  Just tell them you bought a new computer and need them to release so you can get back online.

Funny story, I had a bone head rep refuse to listen and insisted on going through the script "double click yada yada, reboot, set yada yada, reboot, double click......."  Meanwhile I was sitting there saying "yep, ok, yep o.k., yep o.k."  Then she said "I see you have a different NIC, I'll release it".  Boom, it started working.
Yipes, the whole time I just sat there twidling my thumbs since I don't even run Windoze....

Second: My ISP does not check on mac address, only on hostname.
Third: At the moment I'm using smoothwall, until I have a better solution for Astaro.

Just adding the IP information manually, is not an option for me. I have a lease time for a month. If I reboot after that month, I cannot maintain the IP address. Why those guys from @home treat us otherwise, I cannot tell. But I just want a working firewall with IPSEC tunnelling. And in my oppinion, Astaro works just fine, and is easy to configure.
If someone has another hint in the good direction, (how to install another dhcp client for example) then I'll be very glad to hear it.

-1- @Home in the Netherlands (at least in Essent territory) only checks the hostname, not the MAC address. Empirical experience. 
-2- Still to be tested: I've edited /sbin/init.d/dhcp_eth to include the '-h cp123456-a' in the dhcpcd call. Any comments to this change from more experienced astaro users?

I really tought there were some guru's reading ths board. All of you have best intensions, but if it was a real urgent problem, well, I'm just glad I did not payed for it yet...

There are a lot of variations of DHCP client requirements with ISPs and cable companies are the worst for knowing what they have.  So it can be very difficult to know the answers when we are in a different area with different systems and issues.

I've had to use the "-h" option at times and other times had to use the original NIC or get the MAC released.  Other times it works without a problem.  And this is from one ISP that keeps changing their backend servers.

The board is used mostly by other users from various locations and set-ups.  We are just users and not ASL employess.  Had you paid you would have a more direct channel for technical contact.

Key information around here is to state the problem as well as the ASL version, hardware, location, and as much about the ISP as possible.  I'll bet someone with the same problem for the same reason would then know the answer.

In this board there ARE some astaro employees.
If there are not, they cannot refer to this board.
Most people use a trial version to look if the product is right for them. With the intension to buy the product. Astaro refers to this forum to mention any problems. And there are astaro employees on the forum: See reply number 5.
Not all the problems are interresting enough.
Supposed I was the only one with this problem. They can earn a lot more money solving more urgent problems for 1000 users, as for one.
I just hoped they would say: Sorry, I cannot help you at the moment, but I will contact my staff and maybe the next release will include your issue.
But I noticed a few more people in several posts who had kind of the same question......
