strange hardware thing

Hi,

you are right, that _is_ strange, and sounds more like a bios/hardware problem. I would suggest to change a few BIOS settings for the hard drives. Check if everything is configured OK, things like primary, secondary master/slave drives, disable what you don't need, set operation mode to normal, not fast or automatic.

you should test your harddisk with lowlevel tools from the manufactor - it checks the smart state and much more - it ceates a disk in a: und you boot from disk to check it

I'd advise against using the Quantum Bigfoot.
Those drive are *very* slow.

first .. my english is not very good, but i´ll try my best...

so, the problem i´ve described above is the same....
i ´ve took all updates and know my box is at 3.12 and nothing works anymore :-(

the firewall freeze , reboots after some time get the strange hardware messages ( know i´ll get : hda drives busy , try command later) and no matter what hadrware  i grap or what i made in BIOS . there is no change...  i don´t have any idea..

( i´ve changed the ide cables too)

so please help ...

First try load Bios defaults. If it not work try a Bios update if it is availible.
Try to install new chipsatz (for example VIA 4-1) driver.

But I think something on your Motherboard is damage...

that´s what i thought also... but i´ve took diffrent hardware and on any (!)  hardware i´ve got such errors like i wrote ... so i  i think
we can leave the hardware aside. thats realy a strange ...

(hda busy , hda not ready  drive not ready for command and so on)

as i said... diffrent hardware , different harddisks!

Sounds like your motherboard has a bad IDE interface to me.  Have you tried running your HDD on the secondary IDE instead of primary (not usually a good idea, but worth a try for giggles)?

Otherwise, I'm betting on the motherboard itself.

Another thing you might try if you have the hardware laying around is to forget about IDE and drop a SCSI card in a vacant slot, try running a SCSI HDD.  If you don't already have one, though, it'll be cheaper to by a new mainboard and IDE drive than it will to by a SCSI card & drive;

i´ve taken already another mother board.. maybe i didn´t wrote that.

but i´ve think i´ve got the solution... i changed the complete RAM
against new one... and for now it runs.... but now i have anonster
problem... i´ve thought i´ve solved this.... but i didn´t

Argh, RAM was the first what i thougt, but in one System you had 128MB and in the second you had 256, so I thought it was different RAM...   [:(]  

Ok, the mail is because your Logfiles are to long.

Drop your Broadcasts 

define broadcasts (192.168.1.255/32 and 255.255.255.255 /32) in definitions/networks, make a group {broadcasts}. Go in packet filter/rules

any    any     {broadcasts}    drop

if it wasn´t it take a look in your packetfilter whats wrong.

If you want to work in the IT, there's no way around it.

If you are speaking about the search function: yes, it's there, and it's good you found it, too  [:)]  
It's very useful, especially when have have an issue that's reposted as often as that "too much memory" thing. If you search for those three words, you get over 50 hits, where at least half of them are useful (in your case) and where you will definitely find the answer (which was again resposted here in the meantime).
But I will propose to add that issue to the FAQ, even if it is (in most cases) considered _after_ asking in the board, just like the search function... *sigh*

I know this sounds odd.. but I find when I get odd errors on Astaro, if I burn the CD-Image with different burner software, the problem always goes away.

So maybe we should add that to our FAQ, too  [:)]
