Bizarre Rule & service behaviour

Hi

Straight to the point.
1.You add a new service e.g. TFTP udp 1024:65535 69 then add it to the rule set.
2. Restart firewall. No reason to do this
3.Check rule set & notice that the rule you added is partly missing. i.e. the  "to client" address still exists & "to server" part still exists but the actual service part is missing & all the text has shifted along toward the left (green light).
4.Check definitions services area for your new service & find that it has disappeared.
5.Try to add the same service back in with same name only to find that it is disallowed because a service with that name already exists.

Any ideas

Am relatively new to Linux but enjoying, Finally you have to start to use your brain

    I'm not able to reproduce that behaviour. Which Version are you using?

    OK, you added a new service. Then you added a packet filter rule which uses that service. Right?

       
     2. Restart firewall. No reason to do this 
    You restarted the firewall? In that case, you're right - there's no reason to do this. In every other case I would be surprised.

    You are at the Packet Filter:Rules section. In the Rule you created in 1.) the Service part is missing, does that mean that the "service" field is empty? What do you mean with "the text has shifted to the left" ? Where is the text?

    Please be a little bit more precise about what you entered where and what the result is (if you can reproduce this). And don't forget to report your Version!
